Expressions of Resistance

 

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.  ~ Jas 4:7-8

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.  ~1Jn 3:8 

 

 

Faith in and obedience to the Word of God and resisting the devil in your life binds the works of the evil one

To resist [in Greek] means to stand against, to withstand or oppose. It means to stand

the opposite of something, to stand in contrast, “instead of”. The devil [in Greek] means to

represent as blamable, to condemn, to accuse.
