God Is Light

"This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light,

and in him is no darkness at all."  ~1 John 1:5

Lord, I thank You that Your very presence shines upon me. You will turn all my darkness into light. You are my light and my salvation. Your Word says that the very presence of Your light that surrounds me and is within me will save me. Your favor embraces me. I have so much joy being able to walk in Your Light.

I thank You for making light and gladness my fruit, for I have been upright in my heart before You. You have made me righteous through the precious blood of Jesus Christ.  Therefore, You will cause light to rise out of every dark situation because You are gracious, full of compassion and righteous. As one who belongs to you, Your Word says my path is as a shining light, and it shines more and more until the day You return. My light rejoices because I serve the Most high God.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Your commandment is a lamp and Your law is light. They correct and discipline me. They are the ways of life. Therefore, direct me and guide me in the way that I should go. Let Your light and Truth lead me to paths of righteousness for Your glory. You are well able to keep me from temptation and sin. You are able to keep my feet from walking along evil paths. I pray that you keep my feet from all paths of darkness. May I always walk in the light of the Lord!

The revealing of your Word gives so much life and light to me. It gives me understanding in all things that pertain to You and living a godly life. Open my heart and mind to understand You and Your Word. Give me revelation knowledge and counsel from Your holy throne. Open Your Word to my spirit and cause me to grow in You. I pray that Your light, excellent wisdom and understanding will be found in Me.

Everyone who does wickedness hates the light, and they do not come near it for fear of their deeds being revealed. But all of us that work deeds of truth come near the light so that our deeds- which are done in God- are revealed.  You bring all secret sins to the light.  No man knows the evil and secret counsels of the hearts of men. Therefore, teach me not to judge anything before Your Judgment Day. That is when You will bring the hidden things of darkness to light. You will reveal the counsels of the hearts of men. May my heart be found pure before You.

Your Word says that my enemies will never rejoice over me- because when I fall I WILL RISE AGAIN. Whenever I am found sitting in darkness, You will be a light to me. This is why I will always look to You and will wait for You- because You are the God of my salvation. I am confident that You hear my prayers. Even when I feel that darkness is overwhelming my very soul, Your Word says You will cause the night seasons of my life to become as a brilliant light surrounding me. My dark seasons of sorrow are not hidden from You.

Your Son, Jesus, is the light of the world. All of us who truly follow You will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. The darkness and the light are alike to You because You are covered with light, it is Your clothing. You dwell in an inapproachable light- which no man has ever seen or can see. You are as bright as the sun, and rays beam from Your hand- which is where Your power hides. Because I believe in You, Lord, I will not abide in darkness. Light has no business being in any type of relationship with darkness. I used to be in darkness, but now that I am a child of Yours, I have cast off all works of darkness and have put on the armor of light. I am a child of light, a child of the day. I am no longer a child of darkness. I am of Your chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. I will praise You for calling me out of darkness and into Your marvelous light.

As a Christian, I am also the light of this dark world. Give me the strength, boldness and courage to let my light shine before all men. You want this to happen- not for my own glory- but so they will see my good works and give You praise. May all my works bring You glory, my Lord.
